Millbury Health Care Center is a 154 bed, JCAHO accredited, skilled nursing facility conveniently located in the heart of Central Massachusetts, close to Routes 20, 290 and the Massachusetts Turnpike. We offer a friendly, nurturing work environment and our employees enjoy plenty of free parking and excellent working conditions.
Our residents enjoy an air conditioned environment with semi-private and private rooms and bathrooms with plenty of space to administer care.
We offer employees a variety of nursing experiences to match their skill level ranging from wound care and specialty dressings, orthopedic care and rehabilitation, diabetic management and teaching, restorative nursing, I.V. management, pain management, CAD Pumps and Alzheimer’s and hospice care.

The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for the day to day coordination and oversight of all aspects of the Nursing Department in accordance with current Federal and State regulations as well as local regulations as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The ADON is responsible to assist in the coordination, organization, implementation, evaluation and direction of the nursing service department as well as its programs and activities in accordance with current rules and regulations and guidelines that govern the nursing care facilities.

Directly responsible to oversee the Unit Manager on each unit and ensure completion of all assigned responsibilities and resolution to identified resident care issues and concerns.

Infection Control- monitors and ensures recording of infections, analysis of data, determination of trends and potential causes.  Works with the Facility Educator in developing education and training as indicated.

Maintain a reference library and periodically update to assist the nursing service department in meeting the day to day needs of the residents.

Develop and maintain methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the resident’s total regimen of care.

Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies as necessary or as directed.

May participate in QA and A Committee and assists in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.

Assist in planning for resident admissions and discharges.

Serve on and participate in and attend various committees of the facility as appointed by the Administrator or the Director of Nursing.

Assist with determining and monitoring the staffing needs of the nursing department and ensure the assignment of appropriate and adequate numbers of nursing staff daily for each shift to ensure that the needs of the residents met.

Assist in the review annually at a minimum, all nursing services policies and procedures.

Assist with the interviewing and selection with the Director of Nursing and Administrator’s  approval all Nurses and Certified Nursing assistants

Assist with completing yearly written evaluation of nurses and nurse aides.

Assist support services in the development and implementation of in-service training programs related to the nursing department.

Ensure that there are adequate supplies for resident care.

Ensure that medical and nursing care is administered in accordance with the resident’s wishes and per the individualized care plan.

Be aware of and adhere to the nursing service budget and implement it as appropriate.

Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.
-
Ensure residents are treated with dignity and respect and resident rights are ensured.

Maintain a liaison with the residents, their families support departments to adequately plan for the resident’s needs.
Education:
-
Registered Nurse with a minimum of a diploma from an accredited nursing institution.
-
Must have one year additional education in rehabilitative or geriatric nursing.
-
Prefer ASN, BSN or MSN from an accredited college or university.
Professional Experience:
-
Must possess a minimum of one year experience in long term care nursing management or per state requirement.
-
At least 2-3 years experience in a DON/ADON role.
Certification/Licensure:
- Actively licensed Registered Nurse in assigned state(s) of employment.
